Transmission Breather Tube
I had my transmission fluid and filter changed as I just passed 150k. They said it seemed like the fluid was pressurized. This has me wondering about my breather tube. Problem is, I cannot find it to ensure it is free of blockage.
From the pics I have seen it should be around cylinder 8, but is not.
Is is there anyway to get a look at it or service it without removing the transmission?

It attaches to the trans case just above the driver side trans mount; its tight but you can see it with a mirror. You may be able to get to it from the top by removing the shift ***'y, but I have not tried it.
I have cleared breather tubes before with a syringe(no needle). They are a dollar or 2 at any farm supply store.
Put a clear hose on the syringe, and over the breather.
Slide the syringe up and draw out the blockage.
It's usually dirt, so a small drop or spray of water, penatrating oil, or most any liquid can help soften the blockage. Which makes drawing it out easier.
It's worth trying before removing a breather tube in a tight spot.
If you get the breather tube out, not to be captain obvious, but just blow it out with compressed air.
The breather lines on the Disco should be snapped into a plastic clip on the firewall, next to the brake booster.

Maybe if you have a right drive truck. Here in the States, the only breather near the booster is for the front axle. The trans and T-case lines are on the passenger side of the engine. As he mentioned right behind cyl 8.

I cannot see it by the cylinder, so i am guessing it is snapped or similar, I will try to get a look at it with a mirror.
Overrover, thanks for the pic, I thought it was on the top behind the coilpack area. that is a much better place.
thanks for all of the help guys.

I have found it is easier to pull the tube off the banjo bolt which is located at 11.00 o'clock at the rear of the autobox (as viewed from the back) and blow it through with a powerful airline which will clear most gremlins out. Whilst doing the autobox do the LT230 also.

Both good options to prevent blockage from winding up in the trans.
