Transmission Cooling line questions
Hey Guys, just finished up replacing my radiator and after getting everything buttoned back up I noticed the tranny cooler line on the drivers side is leaking (leaking in the swivel area of the "quick" connector). Few questions, 1. does anyone know of an "easy" fix for this, least temporary until I get to question 2. Question 2. this is the big one, I believe I have decided to go with braided lines so does anyone know the thread count/size I need to connect back at the tranny and the size for the "quick" connect on the cooler itself. I know I can order the braided lines, but where and how do I go about the connectors. Thanks in advance!
Funny you should mention this I replaced my rad, water pump, thermostat and coolant last weekend. I took the truck for a drive about 3 hours later the same line your are talking about leaked all of the trans fluid out leaving me stranded on the highway, but a tow to a buddys house, and then drained the remaining trans oil left, filled it back up and presto. I think when I re-fitted all the lines I didn't make sure the locking sleeve was properly fitted, so just make sure to double check. But if in doubt replace the line, but I have been told it a PITA to get it of the top of the trans, good luck!

Looks to me like the line is not pushed in far enough. But even if you do that it still might leak. Those things are a pain, odd ball size tubing.. 7/16" or metricated something or other.
Yea the pics on the site dont show the cooler connection for the rubber hose version but the braided lines show the connection to the cooler. Big difference in price but if it saves me the headache of wrangling the whole line out i may go with it. Dunno if you've looked back at the tranny where that line connects.....any fix that can bypass diggin into that is A OK in my book. Also your connections are super clean compared to mine and others i've seen. Like shadetree said it may just not be seated all the way
EXACTLY what happened to me tonight after doing the exact same repairs. Driver's side line spewed all the fluid out at the coupling to the cooler. I'm having the truck towed back home tomorrow so I can dig into it again.

Be sure its seated correctly. Since your saying its spewing it may not be, mine didnt spray i just had a small leak after reconnecting. After cutting it out i found the swivel part of the connector had rusted and failed. Sadly i never got my hands on the part from the other post. Ended up replacing the entire line. And it is a pain in the ***. Tranny has to come down to get to the top connection.
