Default Transmission Oil Temperature Light

OK, ran over to the other side of the river to let my son's dog out to go bathroom and when I left I got about 1/4 mile down the road and my tran oil temp light comes on... I go about mile to a parking lot to pull over and sit and wait like the manual says.. for about 10 minutes. Then I take off and real quick the light is back on. So I go to my daughter's house (about 1.5 miles and visit with them for a while, hop in light is out, 600 feet down the road light is back on.. then off, then on, then off... once I got out on the highway and up to 55, it went out and stayed out. I have the synth atf ordered to do the flush and fill.

I was not towing anything and it was only 60 degrees and I wasn't driving at high speeds.

Anybody?

You have a bad temp sensor, a loose wire or loose wire harness.
Unplug the wire harness and clean it then wait and see.

I had a similar issue and I had water in the plug on top of the temp sensor on the transmission line just behind the radiator. I had washed the engine and water got into the plug. Cleaned it with electrical cleaner and light was gone.

Or, you have an actual over heat issue, I would lean more towards this then a bas switch, which will act differently when failing.
PM me your tel number and lets talk.

Mike

PM coming. The light has not come back on today. I am planning on getting the tranny flushed and filled with RP as soon as the filter/kit gets here from Atlantic British.

Thanks

Rob

Rob,
Do not do the flush or the Royal Purple till we talk, you can prematurely kill your tranny by doing that.

Rob, will you please post a recap of what Mike says?

That's sweet that these things have tranny temp lights.
