Transmission replacement
I am replacing the transmission for my 2004 disco... My drive shaft broke and smashed the tranny housing...I was able to get a low mileage 2003 transmission for a good price, but didn't get the transmission control module... Will I have to reprogram the existing module for it to work? The Land Rover deal said absolutly and the salvage yard said that with the 03-05 I have about a 50/50 chance that it will work fine. HELP... I have spent enough on this already
Thanks!
Thanks!
2005 isn't a DII it's an LR3 here in the states and a DIII in the rest of the world so there's no reason why it should work if it's a 2005. You wouldn't expect a 1997 DI transmission to work in a 2004 DII, would you?
Let's see, your asked if it would work and a certified Land Rover master mechanic as well as an employee of Rovers North, one of the largest Rover parts specialist in the US said it would but you want a promise???
You cite a former employee of Land Rover who doesn't know the difference between a DII and an LR3 and a salvage yard as your sources. I think I'd put more stock in Chris and Zack but I didn't know responses on these forums needed to come with a promise.

Jeez, take a joke there buddy... the "promise" comment was just a little excitement that this POS might be fixed for the 2000 I was quoted without having to to pay extra to have the TCM flashed... man, I forgot how superior the d bags who always comment on every thread were on these auto sites... I'll stick to the Harley forums where people aren't such stuck up ******... no need to take yourself so seriously, trust me, no one else does... Land Rovers suck by the way... can't wait to get it fixed and trade it towards a f250...
