Default Tranz probs

Is this right, I can only fill my tranz w/ 3 quarts of oil even with it running, and this site below states this is right, even though a write up on this site states 8 quarts . now my tranz is slipping and I have a PO 741 torque converter clutch solenoid circuit stuck or off, At first she slipped real bad my D blinked along w the M, and s mode, I turned off the truck the lites tured off other than my check engine lite, I have cleared the code and it hasnt came back and the tranz dosnt seem to be slipping, I have ordered the shifter solenoid as the part store feels this may be it if so can any one please tell me where it is, any info and thoughts would be helpful.

Thank you.

What is the year, and model of your vehicle? I know my 2000 Discovery DOES NOT have a dipstick or dipstick tube like the article you posted. It has to be filled from the fill plug on the side of the transmission pan. I don't remember exactly how many quarts I put in it when I dropped the pan, but I think it was at least 5.

Does yours have a dipstick?

Are you doing this with the engine running, and at operating temperature?

Something I just noticed from the E-How article: Did you use Dexron or ATF+4?

This usually happens when the battery isn't 100%. I had the same code on mine when I got it. The charging system was fine but the battery wasn't maintaining 13.8 volts. These Disco's can make you think you've got all sorts of problems when the voltage isn't "right."

think she is ok, I got two moure quarts in her while she was running, which I had to quickly put the filler screw in place as it started to pour out as I removed the tube from the oil filler pump, I drove it today with out any slipping or warning lites. The funny thing is ,my workshop manual came in ,it shows how to do every thing but the quanity of fluids to put in, it states fill automatic gearbox w oil, freaking lol

found how much tranz fluid is needed in the work book, from dry = 19.7 pints, conveted to quarts= 9.53, so for a filter change it should be around five as 3-5 quarts of fluid stayes in the torx converter.
