The LS is definitely a better swap. Cheaper and will fit. The modular engine is monstrous in size, and will be more expensive to get power gains.
But to build the rover engine would be far more efficient than either swap, and could produce 350hp reliably. for far less than to modify and then fit a ford Motor into the rover.
