I have a Disco 1 200Tdi, no real probs. Replaced the starter motor relay switch, 1 taillight bulb. I did burn out the starter motor when overheating the motor on a beach run as it sits right unger the exhaust manifold and turbo, the hottest part on the engine. Check that heat shield, if all the silvery stuff is gone then make your own out of heat shield sheeting used for race cars, dragsters. Some people prefer Disco 1 because they have minimum electrics anyway. Dont worry.

Rovers D1 claim to faime when it came to electrical problems had to do with their use of Lucas electronics. D2's were produced using Bosck electronics.

wow, Mike, sucks to know that about the D1. Fortunately, I've experienced no electrical probs in 8k miles. Other than catching the problems as they occur, any advice?

I really wouldn't worry about it and as you say, if something comes up deal with it and in the mean time go have fun.

Why do the English drink warm beer? Because they have Lucas refrigerators.

Or so the bumper sticker reads. My other car is a 1971 Triumph TR6. Lucas electrics all around. But I am sure they have come a long way since then.
