Default Tune Up Questions

Well, I just did the seafoam treatment and Mike was not kidding. It looked like I was either spraying for mosquitoes or my LR was on fire. I hauled *** down the road to hit the highway. People were passing looking at me...pretty funny if I do say so myself.

Anyway, I just replaced the CKS about a week ago and later that night my O2 sensor codes came on. Spike said not to replace them right away as it could just mean it needs a tune-up. I am replacing the plugs and wires tomorrow. Should I wait until after that and see if the SES light comes on again before replacing the 02 sensors, or should I just plan to do so?

04' D2 with 55K miles.

Thanks.

Do your tune up, reset the codes and see if they come back. O2 sensors are too expensive to replace them when they're not bad.

I'm having a brain dead moment. What is CKS? What plugs and wires did you get for your tune up?

Just my .02 on the NKG Iridiums...

I put those in my Disco II last month and had pretty poor results. The engine was missing and I lost a lot of power. When I pulled them out about 2 weeks later, they looked like they had 100,000 miles on them. They looked worse than the Plat +4's I replaced that had 50K on them. I don't know why they were so bad, as others say they have no problems with them. Perhaps it's the heat range...I will investigate further. Just wanted to give you an FYI in case you had the same issues after your tune-up. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads-up. I guess I will know for sure if they start acting up.

Yeah the heat range makes a big difference.
I used E3 spark plugs, JCWhitney listed the wrong ones for my truck, they sent the ones they say, I installed them and she ran like crap.
Went to E3's web site and found the correct plug, got the new ones from JCWhitney and now she runs like a top.

I had Denso Iridium's in it before.
No I have not noticed any difference between the Iridiums and the E3's.
The E3's have a 5 year unlimited mile warrenty, I have them in all my small engine equipment and I swear by them for those applications, wanted to try then in my Rover, so I did.
I am happy with them, my truck runs great and has alot more power on the expressway then before, but I also have new and better plug wires than before.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody tried the PulseStar plugs? I've seen them advertised, but based on their spark claims, seems like they might spark way too much for our trucks.

Well, I changed the plugs and wires today. Drove about 20 miles and the SES light came on. Checked the codes when I got home and it is the same, 02 sensor codes. Anything else I need to check before shelling out the cash for them?

Thanks.
