well another issue upon my car that i hope wont cost anything or is normal or whatever.
when i stick the key in the ignition and turn it to start the car it takes like a couple seconds more to turn over than normal, but sometimes it doesnt, although its been doing it frequently lately. whats wrong? sometimes it turns over instantly sometime it takes a bit longer to.

i am always afraid of it not turning over one time and not starting.

If you mean that the starter is slow to engauge, you have "hot" spots on the starter motor. Eventually it will get bad engouh that it wont start at all.
Dont worry about it until it gets really bad.

 

Start by cleaning and tightening you cables, fill you battery and then go have a load test run on the battery and alternator to rule them out.

There are still lots of batteries out there that can leak and need to have the flat caps pulled in order to bring each cell up to it's proper level.

 

Ok but lets clarify, that if you have a maintence free battery NEVER try and open it. NEVER.
99% of batteries in cars (in the US) are the maintence free type.
IF he has the old style battery then yes, he can add water to it. But ONLY if it is the old style battery.

 

The problem is, Maintence Free batteries aren't maintence free.
I bet it is safe to say that close toa 1/3rd. of them have leaked and need fluid to pull up a cell.

haha i dont think its an older style battery at all. ill check out the battery but later this week when i take it to get smogged because when you unplug the battery doesnt the computers and stuff reset? and i need the for smog because i got repairs done and it reset so now im driving around fora week without registration lol. could the battery be low?

 

Before you dusconnect the battery you will need the security code for the stereo.
And no, it will not reset the computer. You need a code scanner to do that. Go to your local autoparts store and they can read and clear the codes for you. For free.
