So yes I am reading the RAVE.

I am doing a 4.0 to 4.6L engine swap since the 4.6L is dead and I know that I want to keep my 4.6L ECM with the 4.0L engine.

The RAVE has me doing two things that I am not sure I need to do in my circumstance.
Question #1: Step 24 of 12.41.01.99. Since I am not swapping out the ECM do I need to remove the engine harness from the truck since I want the 4.6L harness to stay with the original truck.
Question #2: Step 29 of 12.41.01.99. Do I really have to remove the whole front pipe or can I just remove the exhaust manifolds from both the heads and the front pipe?

 

I can't answer question one but question 2 you should be able to but since you have to remove the crossmember, why not just unbolt the manifold, loosen the nuts connected to the cat and remove the 2 bolts holding the cat to the muffler. It's not that hard and you can just unclip your o2 sensors BC you don't want coolant and all the other grime getting on them

 

Why do I need to remove crossmember? To drop transmission?
