Yeah, even though the 285/60R18's are the same diameter of my 265/75R16's, 31.5, your tire is nearly and inch wider. Which is probably the reason for the rubbing. Like mentioned, you could add length to your stops and eliminate the issue.

I had the same problem but with a slightly bigger lift. You can use longer steering stops or spacers as others have said. I got longer steering stops but didn't like the turning radius, so I got 2" Bora spacers. The wider stance is fun looking and they still miraculously stuff on rare occasions when everything articulates.

If I had it to do over again (which I will when these tires wear out, years from now) I would have gotten skinnier tires.

Hello, I've had lots of rubbing issues over my 10 years with D2's. I have used and still use the .25" wheel spacers that slide right on the the lugs before mounting the tire. These .25" spacers are enough to fix my rub issue. People may tell you they are not safe and maybe on some trucks they aren't.But from my actual real world experience, I can tell you 'I've used them for years and have never had an issue. I can't say the same for the bolt-on 1" or bigger spacers . i've had those go very wrong on my truck. Also these .25" spacers are cheap. If you are just doing the front it'll probably less then $50 for both.

Do you have a link for the spacers that you used?

These are the ones I've got on the front and rear. And like I said I've had these running on my D2 for probably about 4 years with no issue at all.
I currently have 265/75/16 and they just solve the rub issue without sticking your tires out too far. I'm not sure what your tire size is compared to mine but hopefully these will help.

Rubbing on the front radius arms can be solved by adjusting the steering stops, but if you ever flex the suspension, the sidewall of those 285 tires might be shredded by the upper spring seats. I use the Terrafirma wheel spacers. I have a narrower tire, nominally a 10" section width versus 11.2", and with the wheel spacers, they just clear the spring seats by a mm or two.

I did some pretty extreme & tight trails at HCRR and the custom steering stops I made just for my Kalahari worked great. Only 3 times did I back up a bit to get a better line due to not turning tight enough. Zero rubbing anywhere with my 16inch wheels and my fat 265/75R16 MT’s.

Ok so after much consideration and everyone's help. I think that I am going to just get thinner tires. Can anyone recommend the perfect fit tire for a two-inch lift on a 2004 disco? Lucky8 said that I can get 31.5 clearance with that but I think it's pushing the max and dont want to run into the same situation. Looking for all-terrain tires.

Any recommendations?

Did you ever crawl under your D2 to see if it had the long turn stops or the short ones? I run 32inch tires on 2inch lift with zero rub after I made a set custom turn stops. I only had to correct my line twice out on the trail due to turning wider vs a D90. Small price to pay vs rubbing IMHO & I still steer better vs a JKU/JLU.

Yeah, a 31.5X10.4 tire (265/75R16) works fine in my 2" lifted rover...but the original poster is running wider 31.5's are just about an inch wider (31.5X11.2).

This tire might be a better choice.
