The Ultra Gauge has been out for a long while now. Is this still the best option for overall monitoring at a glance? I like the idea of something small I can mount to the dash.

Also, my SES light is burned out. I have a code scanner that I use frequently to monitor things but will the Ultra Gauge help with showing SES notifications?

 

The ultra gauge is the way to go. Very compact display packed with great monitors and easily configurable per page. Yes it will allow you to view pending codes and hard codes.

Keep in mind the only truly useful data you get is the intake water temp. Also battery volts if you care

 

I mainly want to keep an eye on engine temp / get notifications of codes when they arise.

 

For the engine temp you can set an alarm and it will sound when you reach the set temp.

 

Not sure why are you say this. O2 sensor data is pretty useful in my opinion.

 

You have to bear in mind that the ECU is crude by today's standards. I use a HUD which gives me a lot of essential data but is certainly not as comprehensive as a UG for many functions. The UG is compact and requires very little installation time and can be mounted loose or built into the dash.

 

that and fuel trims.

keeping an eye on live O2 sensor data and long term fuel trims can help in narrowing down potential and actual issues.
