Default Ultragauge quick set up

Can anyone give me the quick rundown on setting up a new ultragauge for the Disco. I thought basic functions would be plug and play but nope. It powered up and started asking a ton of questions.

What gauges do most people run on the main page besides the obvious water temp?

If there is a sticky I dirdid see it maybe it would be a good one

These are for calculation of gas consumption functions. Just grab the owner's manual, I believe capacity is 25 gallons. Probably wants to know tire circumference, too.

I like to see a little more diagnostic, to get a better idea of how it's running.

Get the ultragauge blue for a smart phone or tablet. You can customize all the gauges you want to monitor.

I've used a few different configurations over the last several years, but for a long time I've settled on the two views you see pictured here. Each page is visible for three seconds before the view cycles to the other page, and so on.

Coolant temp is the first thing on everyone's mind, but I also like to monitor mpg, both instant and average since the last fill up. I use the UG to keep. track of how many miles since the last oil change, and I monitor alternator voltage.

On other page I like keeping an eye on the voltages being put out by the upstream O2 sensors, plus both short term and long term fuel trims.

You can see in the third picture where I have mine mounted. It fits quite nicely to the left of the instrument cluster held in place with a thin strip of Velcro.

And yes, the owners manual says fuel capacity is 25 gallons, but the RAVE says 25.5 gallons. Our trucks do not communicate fuel level information with the BCU so after entering the size of the fuel tank you have to go into the menu and let the UG know you have filled the tank. The gallons left is an estimate, based I think on how much fuel the computer has sent through the injectors. That's all I've been able to deduce about how it works. Or it could be average mpg multiplied by the number of miles driven to calculate how much fuel has been used, but for that to work the UG would need to know when the tank was filled, which it does not know unless you tell it.

Oh, and as redwhitekat said, set up an coolant temp alarm. He suggested 215°. I think that's a good number.
