So I just figured out how to view my engine temp using the UltraGuage and here are the results:



Also may be worth noting that the engine tick is apparent pretty much all the time now, during idle and driving. Have not noticed any burnt oil or coolant odors under the hood and no misfires. No check engine or pending codes at the moment. I'm worried about the engine nevertheless. I think its time to save up for a headgasket job and also want to get the compression test down prior.

 

217 is high. In my opinion, really high. What stat are you running? Time to switch out to the Factory Land Rover 180.

 

Im still running the factory thermostat and have not done a 100% flush of the coolant system yet. When I first got the Disco I had Jiffylube suck out what they could directly from the reservoir (did not know how to properly drain coolant at the time) and add new coolant. Did that twice just to make sure I got alot of the old fluid out of the system. Also for the record my truck is fully loaded with equipment at the moment, not sure if vehicle load has a impact on the engine temps during idle or not.

In replacing the thermostat do you have to replace all the cooling system hoses? Short for money right now and that is the primary reason I have not switched out the thermostat yet. I do have a replacement sitting in my toolbox though.

 

One thing Im uncertain of is to which thermostat I purchased. The part number is PEM10099 and I ordered it from DAP enterprise over a year ago. Still have the receipt but it does not specify if its the 180 or not. Can anybody tell me if this is the right thermostat I should be using? If its the correct thermostat then Ill install in soon. If not Ill order the right one.

 

The thermostat you have is the factory one, the part number for the 180 is PEL500110G.

 

You don't have to replace the hoses but I would buy 3 knew hose clamps. You'll be happy you spent that few dollars at napa probably before you even get the old ones off. The ones on it aren't weren't messing with if you don't have the right tool.

Not sure about your thermo you have, but I wouldn't go through the trouble to put a stock style back in unless it was the grey 180 thermo. I've had too many bad thermo experiences. My vote is for stock 180 grey or inline mod.

Apparently this thermostat is a upgrad to the original thermostat part number: PEM100990KG

Either way I dont know for sure if the thermostat I ordered is a 180, but its not a dark grey so I dont feel comfortable putting it in my truck. DOnt wanna find out later its not the 180 Im looking for. it specifies 180 and thats what everybody is recommending so im gonna order it along with new hoses soon. I might be able to get a good deal from The Rovahfarm but we shall see. Just wanna get the colling system updated and done with so its one less thing to worry about and I dont wanna wait until something bad happens to deal with it. Thanks for the help.

No sir... it is PEL500110, the one you listed is an atlantic british part number, and G means OEM, not GEN which is genuine.

 

The one AB sells is a motorad, and it is 180 degrees. Some people have had good luck, some haven't.
