Default Unlocked hi

Just recently found out how to properly "drive" my Disco (Unlocked HI). But my question is...someone please help me, "Is the 4WD light suppose to be on? I think I have it in its proper setting.
Just had transfer case, Front and Rear Diff's replaced. Really want to know all there is in driving & enjoying this truck that I love so dearly!

What year is your truck? There is no 4wd light on the dash since LRs are full time four wheel drive. Only light you will get is for the center differential being locked.

make sure you have and read your owners manual.

i have an '04 and my light is only on if my differential is locked. the four wheels with the X in between the front and rear axles.

there are four settings: 4-hi locked, 4-low locked, 4-hi unlocked, 4-low unlocked

to shift among these four it is best to either be (1) rolling very slowly in neutral or (2) in neutral stopped while slightly revving the engine.

you should ONLY lock the diff on slippery surfaces (gravel, snow, ice, etc.). that is, your truck will usually be in 4-hi unlocked.

You're not in Hi Unlocked if the diff light is on. Unless the sensor is just wrong. You have it in the bottom right position, correct?

Sorry for the off topic but hazletbassist89, do you play the bass? Upright or bass guitar?

yes indeed. I started with an electric 10 years ago, picked up the upright about 4 years later and been playing in every band I could find. I've played pretty much everything from death metal to reggae to jazz. You play?

I play the cello. Go bass clef! I love jazz. We use to have a local FM jazz station but now its gone! So are you a musician or just playing on the side? Its great to see other musicians as Disco owners.

Well I was a musician all through highschool. Did every school band they had and played in a few metal bands as well. Then in college I finally found people who also liked really interesting music, the kinds you'd never hear on the radio. Played a lot of cool stuff then but now that the summer hit I'm home and out of practice
