Default US Discovery 2 - was it available with a 5 speed?

My understanding is that it was not available in North America with a 5spd, however occasionally you see them for sale in the states.

Is it possible that these are European market vehicles that were imported at some point, and would I be able to identify a European market truck from it's VIN number?

Thanks in advance.

No NAS DII's came with 5-speeds, nun, not Canada, not Mexico, not the US...nun.
No 5-speed DII that you see for sale is a import with a OEM 5-speed, all cars imported must be 25 years old or more, and the oldest DII is the '98 and even though I went to publik skool I know that ain't no 25 years old.
Canada's import age is 15years, but it still needs to be 25years old or more to be imported to the US if it came from outside North America.
It is common here in MI to buy cars from Canada and then register them here in the US but those cars meet US rules.
