Default Used Engine?

Two questions to those who are familiar with this:

1. Where do you guys look for an affordable used engine usually? Or has anyone had luck with a re-manufactured one?

2. Can a 1999-2002 D2 engine fit in an '03 Model? I've read that the 99-02 have had less reliability issues than 03's or 04 (knock on wood). Also, would I need an SAI engine too? I don't use the SAI feature.

Roverguy.com. honest trustworthy and great prices for used.

yes a 99-02 will fit. you'll love power I believe. SAI only connects at the heads, so use your old heads and any year block. you can use a P38 Range Rover Bosch block as well

Yes you’ll lose some power. 99-02 is 4.0 and 03-04 is 4.6 litre. May or may not concern you.

SAI isn't something you use. It's something that the engine uses.
If you get a short block, SAI won't be an issue since you can reuse your existing heads, as Harvlr says.

Just a quick update. I'm past 133k and the engine is STILL going, that being said it's going to go soon. When it does I'll be taking the Rover to a nearby "guru" to replace the engine with a 99-02. Thanks for the help and advice everyone.
