Default Using regular gas?

Hey finally got my rover yesterday and love it. I have all service record from owner and is at 98k. Last owner always used reg gas and gave me a free tank as well. I know it uses premium, is there any harm in me switching now? I am ok with paying for premium but don't want to cause any damage by switching.

Thanks

Probably a lot of sludge in the engine because lower octane gas burns at a higher temperature which in a way "cooks" the oil.

The previous owners of my car did the same, I would recommend doing the SeaFoam treatment to the Engine and running several cans through your gas tank just to be safe.

Hey no need to scare me! he does have receipts of oil changes every 3k miles, so that's some peace of mind.

I have heard/seen people do that in Infinitis/BMW with no side effect(did see loss of power).

I will use premium next fill up and let u know, supposedly it gets 16mpg right now.

Regarding seafoam, saw some horror stories, not sure if I want it to screw up something b

I think there is a sticky for the seafoam procedure on this site. It is a fairly common thing to do on these vehicles. Definitely keep up with the oil changes, and you might want to use a high detergent oil to clean any potential sludge like Rotella.

PS: didn't mean to scare you Welcome to the group! (and get ready for frustrations, and scares from owning one of these!)

Thanks guys, I do know the owner had engine flushed this previous oil change. I will try to find some deserted place and do the seafoam as well

i would run seafoam thru the SAI but i would put BG 44k in the tank. and switch to 91-93 octane and dont run anything lower in the future.
