Default V8 fuel pump not working

Hi all,

After my 2004 D2 V8 sat with a dead battery for about a year, I finally got around to attempting to get it back on the road again. After fitting a new battery, It turns over fine, but no start whatsoever.

With the key at position 2, there is no sound at the fuel pump, and zero voltage at the connector across the WP & black cables.
Next I powered it directly from another source & confirmed it seems to still run fine.
Then I checked fuse 10, and swapped the relay with another of the yellow color, but still no joy.
Next I ran the ‘special function’ on my diagnostic which allows to switch the fuel pump relay on & off, and it runs the pump fine.
I’ve also removed & reseated all the connectors on the ECU.
The diagnostic shows the inertia switch as ‘set’ (not triggered).

I’m at a bit of a loss now what to try next? Anyone have any other tips to try?

Thanks,

So AFAIK, the pump only runs for a second or so at pos 2. I never heard mine running. Maybe it's not a fuel issue.......crank pos sensor chewed by mice?

and check for spark!

Ooh, this is a spicy meatball. I’d start with the basics: air, fuel, spark.

I think you’ve confirmed your pump is good. Continuing on fuel, have you confirmed you are getting fuel pressure? I think there is a schrader valve under the hood and the Rave I’m pretty sure describes diagnostics on the fuel system. Same thing for ignition. Similarly for air as well (this one would be pretty obvious).

As said already, it probably wouldn’t hurt to start doing inspections of key components and the connections like the CPS and such.

On a fuel trim/misfire thread I started recently, I was reminded to diagnose diagnose diagnose….
