I connected my DIY smoke machine to the air intake, pumped smoke into it, and in addition to a few other vacuum leaks, I was seeing the smoke come out from this breather hose:


I'm not sure if it's for the trans or the transfer case?

Is this normal that smoke can escape from there via the throttle body? I didn't know there was a connection.

 

That's not a breather hose. I can't tell without a little more context (zoom out, especially with the opposite steering) but it looks like the brake booster tubing that's broken.
