The set i got with my L8 HG kit fit a little wonky but they seem to be keeping the oil on the inside

I wouldn't be surprised if the next set you buy from someone else are the exact same thing.
I have wondered the same.
Yeah, I took pics.
I'm on my laptop, they are on my phone, and service is bad at my house.
I will try and post them in a few.
As said, the gasket fits the cover, but 2 holes don't line up, at all, forcing the bolt through pops the gasket off the cover, and pushes the gasket out.
There is no way to keep the gasket on the cover, and get the bolt through.
Not happening.

Maybe there is a cork one out there that will work with these covers? Or perhaps there is another type of valve covers that will work with these heads that has legit gaskets?

That's what I was hoping
Or just saying F it and take the inserts out and trim the rubber, fill in with UB, as I'll Be putting UB on them anyway.
Just makes me angry seeing them fit like this.
At the top front hole, the gasket is pushed out and down, and it won't be long until it's pissing oil onto the lower intake gasket...and then all I can hope is for it to burn to the ground.
