Valve cover leak!
04 Disco 2, 75k. I'm about to change my plug wires and take the plentum off, and I see the passenger valve cover in the rear corner has been leaking. I noticed it last week and figured I would tighten it up while the plentum was off. Well, now I am wondering if I should just replace the valve cover gaskets and be done with it. I know it's common and even more so since these are all alluminum, so my ? is, tighten that one side a little, or replace both valve cover gaskets? If its usually always going to leak a little then I will just tighten it. Plus I went out there and pulled one plug wire off and the damn thing pulled upart. So now its stuck where its at until my plug wires get here. I know it will run, but I dont want to set a check eng light off and go pay to have it cleared. Thanks for any help.
Have you tried cleaning and tighten the v/c bolts, they are probably just loose.

You do not need to pay to have the check engine light turned off. Any auto parts store can read and clear your CEL for free.

Thanks fella's, I'm going to tighten them up and hopefully that will work. If there already tight, then I'll replace the gaskets. Hopefully my wires and plentum gasket comes in tomarow so I can do that swap. Magnacor 8mm with Bosh 4. After that I'm taking it to a shop so they can do a tranny flush with filter kit and Mobil 1 Synthetic fluid. Also a coolant flush with that non corosive nitrate phoser something free coolant.Should Iseafoam it, then ATF flush the engine, or does it matter? Should I do the seafoam before changing the plugs?I'll search the forums for the exact instruction on how to do it. ATF flush just dose'nt sound right, have any of you guys used Roslin or other engine flush. You guys call for 2 bottles of seafoam, one goes in the small hose coming from the intake and what about the other can?
The ATF flush will work better than a store bought engine flush. Any ATF will work, use the cheapest you can buy.
One can of Seafoam for the induction cleaning and the other in the gas tank.
Do the induction cleaning before the tuneup and the gas tank after.
ATF flush anytime. Just make sure that you change the oil and filter again 500 miles after the engine flush.

Your PCV valve is clogged. It is forcing the crankcase pressure past the valve cover seals. My passenger cover leaked until I replaced the PCV valve. No more leak.
