Not an 03 but the little lady daily drives a 99 with 240k on the cluster. Its a non sai vehicle with sai plugged heads so its been into before.

She drives the crap out of it. I wouldn't drive it to Cali and back but A. Mainly because of mpgs and B. I wouldn't go to Cali.

Simple machines and simple repairs. The head gasket went the day before Xmas eve, had leaked for 6 months of ownership. We added anywhere from cup to less than an Oz of coolant a day (I have a few free 55 gallon barrels of coolant)

the levy broke, had planned on having heads from a blown up 03 with 86k rebuilt and ready to go when they eventually went. I already had the head gaskets and arp studs on the shelf.

On Xmas eve I trued the heads like a 1920s farm tractor on a concrete block. Not my idea of a relaxing 3 day weekend. I finished reinstall Sunday and she drove to work Monday.

Then the following Monday she ran through a downed tree at 630 am. Few new scratches and dents to what was a flawless front end I stole from the 2003. Biggest damage was it ripped off her 48" light bar and dented the roof where it mounts.

She put the light bar in the back, continued to work. The big bull bar steel bumper proved its worth.

I'm a yota guy...but the rover is growing on me.

My white 01' just started leaking water above the starter at of the back of the head. 172,000 miles.

I just picked up another 01' from a long time owner and friend, it has 237,000 on the clock. Driving it today.

After substantial work, my '04 4.6 finally retired at 270K - I think it was a crack in one of the cylinders. Misfire on #3, the piston was steam cleaned. I didn't do much troubleshooting as I had already started building the new engine. The wife bought the truck new back in the day. Was pretty much a dealer queen until the first head gasket job was required - that's when I started wrenching on it.

2 head gasket jobs
1 set of new heads
2 cams with lifters, pushrods, and rocker assy rebuilds (I killed the first one after about 1,000 miles by not breaking it in properly)
New front cover/oil pump
1 new set of main bearings / 2 new sets of rod bearings
Pinned liners
Water pumps
In-line t-stat
Yadda, yadda, yadda...

I finally got my new build running this past Dec (updated signature) - https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ebuild-106367/ So far so good...

Full suspension rebuild next!

I'm driving this thing 'till the wheels fall off of the truck - or me!
