Well I have a vibration problem when accelerating from either a stop position or while going down the road. 2003 with 140k, don’t hear any noise at all and no vibration when letting of the gas. Front drive shaft most likely ?
and is there a cal nipple on the tcase to switch it so I can remove the drive shaft ? And or to at least bypass it to see if it changes when accelerating ?

Ya I would really look at the driveshaft and you may have been lucky enough to catch it on time. If that goes your tranny and other items could be in big trouble

 

How hard to put new u joints in it ??
as that might be my fastest option ?

 

Are you familiar with the driveshaft service history? If not, probably just worth replacing it as a precaution, especially if you're going to pull it anyway. I think I paid around $150 for a new one from Lucky8 - that'll get the job done as long as you're not lifted, and it's a lot cheaper than a new transmission.

Other thing to check would be the rotoflex (where the transfer case mounts to the rear driveshaft) - the rubber parts can rot and crack.

Easiest and fastest option would definitely be to just swap the whole part. You can probably save some money by replacing the u-joints yourself but that'll take time and you won't know whether it's balanced when you're done.

 

Yeah I don’t know how fast I can get a drive shaft from lucky8 with out paying a fortune

 

Try giving them a call tomorrow - I’m in Boston and have usually received my orders within about 2 days, since they ship from upstate New York. They may be able to give you a better price over the phone as well.

I will give them a call in the am and see what can be done, and I don’t see the nipple to switch the cdl to remove the shaft for the time being

 

If you are feeling it you might be able to see it. If you plan to pull it anyway you will probably want to shoot some Pblaster on the nuts anyway, give the U Joints in the double cardon a close inspection while you are there.

 

you mean the nipple for the cdl? I can’t feel it at all
