OK, I need help. Newly rebuilt and balanced front driveshaft, new front hubs, new steering stabilizer, just had tires balanced, rotated and alignment done. Vibration starts at 70 to 75 mph. Nothing felt in the wheel nor is the car bouncing up and down. It is more like a growling rumble. No cracks in the rear rotoflex. I need to know what to do as the vibration is causing me major grief after I have spent so much money so far. Thank you. -aaron

Did you lube the replacement drive shaft along with the rear shaft, who's shaft did you use, was the centering ball replaced?

 

Grab the output flange from the transfer case to the front driveshaft and see if it wiggles any.

 

Did you have your driveshaft rebuilt or did you buy a aftermarket one like a Tom Woods?

 

Neapco u-joints and centering ball. Rebuilt it alongside my mechanic. Lubed the new front shaft parts. Don't remember lubing the rear joint though.

Use this as an excuse to install a CDL, lock it, pull the shaft and see if it still vibes

 

Then lube the rear shaft and inspect the roto-flex looking for cracks between the 6 bolts.

 

Welll, I lubed the heck out of the front shaft and the rear shaft tonight. roto-flex looks brand new. Got on the highway and the vibration is still there betwwen 75-80. I am ready to 'Ghost-Ride' this Disco off of a cliff.

the front drive shaft is out of balance the same thing happened to me too when i rebuilt my shaft get it balanced at a drive shaft shop and that should cure your problem

 

Shaft was balanced at the only place in Dayton that does shaft balancing. It is no different after the balancing than before.
