Default Vivration at 45MPH then goes away

Hey guys...

Just got my truck on the road yesterday... I replaced the front driveshaft with one front Lucky 8 witch corrected some serious vibrations. Now I have a new vibration one that starts at about 40MPH and goes away at about 50MPH.

I am going to have a look at the rear driveshaft tonight and the ROTOFLEX.

Any other ideas.

PS. brakes are new but tires need to be replaced.

To me, it sounds like a tire balance issue

X1 or Rotoflex coupling 'gone past it's sell by date', check for distortion or cracking in the rubber.

Ok, so I looked at it tonight... The roto has some minor cracking starting. I suspect its the original. I will start with replacing it and will inspect the U joints when I pull the driveshaft down.

If it were the tires would I not keep getting the vibration as I increase the speed?

No, balance issues can go in and out in.

Sounds like I will need to check that out next Thursday (work on your own car night at my dealer)

X3 on tire balance. Typically you will only feel the balance problem at at certain speed and once you pass that speed it goes away. Mine was 50-53MPH. Put some cheap used tires on to get me through to tax time and it is now 65MPH. Hopefully new tires will eliminate it all together for me.

Trouble with tyre balance it comes and goes at different speeds and road surfaces as Dusty says. When it vibes it's often damaging shocks, mounts and bushes not least wheel bearings.

The Rotoflex if showing cracks insitu is usually worse than suspected when taken off. Don't fit aftermarket in it's place use GKN and new bolts as it pays off in the end. Aftermarket is false economy.

Thanks guys for the reply,

I have gone ahead and ordered new tires today as my other ones were absolute junk and are not worth the time to re-balance them. This being said I am going to try the new BFG AT Ko2's. Anyone try these yet? I am Also ordered a 2'' Terrafirma lift from lucky8 and since my rotoflex is starting to crack I decided to order one of his rear driveshaft kits with the rear rotoflex delete.

I will let all of you know the outcome.

For all those who help me out... I got a new rear D1 driveshaft from lucky 8 and the rotoflex delete kit and I have no more vibrations.

Thanks!
