Just trying to save money to replace the radiator and master cylinder/brake booster and its taking forever.

So I bought a 97 Wrangler with the 4.0 inline 6 with a 5 speed stick shift.

Fun as hell with the roof off putsing around town but the rover definitely has it beat off road.

As you get older you realise that patience is a virtue (something I have very little of), particularly if you live in France where customer service and speed of delivery is NOT of the essence. You also realise that a great majority of vendors don't give a toss about your predicament and many are just total a***holes without any customer service interests. It's the modern idiom.

LOL. So you got tired waiting for your parts and went out and bought a Jeep to pass the time?

I want to walk behind you, money must be falling out your pockets! When I need to pass some time I try and beat my high score on the old skip-it.

Wranglers are great fun - and so are the older Cherokees and Grand Cherokees (I have one of each)

I used to drive Jeeps and miss taking the top off, do not miss the highway driving experience in a CJ. Loved a 87 Cherokee that I had, and did not like the '96 Grand Cherokee I had. I would buy either an old CJ or a Cherokee to have fun with. So easy to work on. My Dad and I restored a '76 CJ-7 when I was in High School.

I remember test driving a new '96 Grand Cherokee back then. IMO it felt loose or sloppy on the tarmac and rolled around like a donkey and after 10 miles the autobox expired When I picked it up I reported that someone had crunched in the LH side cill in, it was a bad day for that dealership.

Obviously I didn't buy the truck what with the sloppy ride and dodgy autobox going pop. I stuck with my old Range Rover V8 and V6 Ford Probe until I bought a D2 V8 in 2000.

Well I work for Chrysler now (thanks to the Land Rover and this community for the experience) and I got a good deal on this trade in seeing as they are all trying to convert me.

Both of them will be my project vehicles and between the 2 hopefully 1 will work.
