Same goes for Poptarts, buy a box of Poptarts from Wallmart, same size box...but the actual Poptarts inside are much smaller.
So, as far as...more for less...goes...at least you got the equally sized box for less.
A guy I know use to be kind of "high up" in the Wallmart food chain of command, so l asked him about the Goodyear tire/Poptart thingy...and he told me that Wallmart, with all of their buying strength, tells the supplier what they want to sell the product for...and then the supplier builds the product to that spec.
I guess the "more for less" actually means....more for Walmart and less for you...
Brian.

Interesting stuff. I watched a Frontline a number of years ago about Walmart that confirmed their buying power and such, but I didn't know it went so far as to have separately engineered products.
Getting back on task, the Wallyworld batteries I've used were purchased as stop gaps and just happened to last relatively well. Now usage has been light at best in all applications, but I'd have to say I'm satisfied.

I get my AGM sealed batteries from Sams Club. They used to sell Optima Batteries, but they have discontinued them. I bought 3 batteries there last year for my 98 D1, 99 D2, and my 02 D2. I went with their Marine AGM Deep Cycle Battery by Energizer. It reminds me a lot of the DieHard Platinum Battery that used to be so good. I'm sure it's not made by Odyssey, but it's a Deep Cycle battery and if I have any issues while traveling most towns have a Sams Club.

Which group battery did you get for your D2 from Sam's? My Diehard Platinum just took a crap and since they don't make them anymore, I can either get the replacement they will give me (I think it's a Gold AGM which doesn't have good reviews) or go with something else. Just curious if the Sam's batteries are still running strong.

I've bought 10 or so batteries of different brands over the last few years. For what it's worth, the only ones that failed sooner than I would have expected were Walmart batteries. 2 deep cycle and one starting battery. Still under warranty but does no good when you are miles from a Walmart.
