Wanted Some Opinions
Hey everybody,
I'm looking to buy my first Disco and wanted some of your opinions on whether you think this would be a good buy.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Not much I can comment on with that limited info, but 8k is too much. 88k is great, but that's also around the mileage where things start falling apart (head gaskets, etc). Every disco I've seen could always use at least 2 grand worth of maintenance. IMO look for one from a private party for around 3-5k, then put in the time and money to bring it up to snuff.
Having said that, go take it out for a test drive. The more disco's you drive, the better.

I've owned several D2's that rolled right off the showroom floor or were re-certified by LR & I never had a single one need head gaskets. My first new D2 had 169k on it when I traded it in for a re-certified 03 SE7 with 20k on it and I never had issues except a purge valve and some spark plug wires.
They were both 03's and never had oil pump failures. The SE7 I sold with 119k and once again no coolant issues.
The only reason most D2's are showing with blown head gaskets is due to being overheated by ignorant lazy non mechanical people that have no clue to do regular fluid checks or scheduled maintenance. Also now an 04 is 13 years old and any vehicle of that age is going to need something......
My current D2's are 1-2 owner vehicles with great maintenance history. 02 Kalahari is 228k and runs like new, and my 99 D2 has 106k and also runs like new. It all depends on how you maintain them!!!!
I'd look for a clean D2 for sale by a LR lover/enthusiast, and totally avoid the small used car lots!!!!!!! Amount of owners isn't really an issue vs how it was maintained. It's not hard to spot the bad ones with Auto Zone hood vents, chrome 4x4 badges, duct taped horn buttons, and zip ties galore.....
