Default Water in crank case.

How bad is it when an engine leaks water into the crank case? Can someone please explain why this happens and also what it takes to fix it?

Thanks everyone.

You need new head gaskets. Coolant is leaking down through your cylinders into your crankcase. It's expensive to fix unless you DIY.

I just saw an ad on a Disco for sale and wondered what the seller was talking about. Thanks for the explanation.

At least they are being honest. How much did they want?

On Rover engines it could also be a slipped liner allowing water in the crank case. Best case the engine needs head gaskets. Worse case the engine needs replaced.
