Thanks khtemple! The coat hanger operation worked like a champ... Now how do I get rid of the soggy floor padding and smell? Can I just lift up the carpet and replace just that section of padding?

'99 Discovery - Series One

 

I got my new to me Discovery 1 (1996) three weeks ago, and found that my carpet was soaked. I suspested it to be water of the airco, and planned to dive in the dash sometime and fix it. I found this forum two days ago and saw this tread. After three minutes, the problem was fixed.

Pull up the carpet, vaccum out any moisture and try a can of Lisal spray.
Make sure to shampoo the carpets, check with a carpet shop and see what they suggest you use to kill the bacteria.
