Default Water Pump, Thermostat, Flush

I have an 04 Disco II with 58k. I have a slight leak in the water pump and I need a flush. I was thinking of swapping out the thermostat while I'm in there with the new pump. It seems fairly easy and I think it's recommended around 60k. Then I will flush the system and bleed it. Does this seem like a good plan? Will I be able to do it all with little difficulty? I'm planning on just buying the fan removal tool bc I don't want to deal with the hassle. I'm no mechanic, but I'm looking to learn more. Anything else I should do?

Sounds like a good idea. Also replace the coolant pressure cap, switch away from Dexcool and use something like Peak or one of the other green coolants while adding a bottle of either Water Wetter or Purple Ice to the coolant for better heat dispersal.
Might also consider one of the new German water pumps with the brass empellor that comes with a 2 year warranty. Both Atlantic British and British Parts of Utah have them, BPoU has the better price.

Thanks! I wouldn't have thought of the cap. I appreciate your advice. I'm going with Peak Global - the Dexcool freaks me out a bit.
