Default Water water everywhere…

Currently chasing down passenger floorboard floss. Does anyone just remove this body plug as a means to attempt from water building up??

OK, so you really want to fix this problem properly instead of just draining it because it means that water is running down either your B pillar (seat belt area) or your A pillar by the windshield. The leak most likely is coming from a broken sunroof drain, so drop the headliner and fix it or (as I did for several years) seal up the sunroof. A big risk here is that water is draining down your front A pillar over the BCU and ECU (the computers) and associated wiring and is wreaking unseen havoc.

It could also be coming from a plugged AC drain tube on the passenger side, I had that happen as well. We were in the middle of a road trip during the summer and my wife told me the floor mat was wet despite driving through dry, hot terrain. At our next stop in Billings, MT I had to buy a wire bound notebook, strip out the wire and get underneath to unplug the drain line at the back of a Walmart parking lot!

@Randy Copeland Check your roof rack seals too - trust me they leak.

Thank you!! Yes, it’s been a process….fixed both sunroofs, replaced broken plastic collectors, blew out drain tubes, sealed where sunroof mounts to body, sealed roof rack mounts, unclogged AC lines, and sealed drip rails. Just now fashioned a lower windshield rubber where meets plenum, and fabricated a ‘visor’ for the fresh air intake….I’m trying my best!!!!

no water in back or drivers side, and doesn’t smell like antifreeze.

of course it doesn’t help that we are currently having an ‘atmospheric river’ here in the PNW

Thanks for the advice, but I was curious if anyone ram without the plug while they troubleshot leaks.

@Randy Copeland I have not but I have rubber floor mats. Try this though a good sized piece of cardboard and put in the passenger well supported in a couple pieces if 1x1. If the cardboard gets wet it is dash/windshield other wise pillars etc.

Preach! Even though I made my fixes I was out this morning making sure stuff was still dry, seems to be but I'm going to continue to check it. I still get really nervous when it dumps down like this.

I’m looking forward to this big dump of moisture hitting our local ski hill!

I had a major leak when it would rain in the passenger footwell on one of my old '04 Discos. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from even after ripping everything apart.

I finally found the issue. Right under the roof drip rail where the A-pillar meets the roof was a small hole where the factory didn't finish the weld. It was right near the top front corner of the passenger window frame.

It may have been a super rare issue but worth checking out if you've already looked at a lot of other places.

I used a bit of 3M dum-dum strip to plug up the hole and I never had a leak again.

Thanks for the input! I think I have solved the issue…. For now! The only place I hadn’t addressed was the lower windshield seal and the fresh air intake. Any water SHOULD have drained out the large holes on the sides.

I fashioned a seal out of bathroom shower silicone from Amazon, and made a fresh air intake cover (top half only)from an empty antifreeze jug, and sealed it with a bead of silicon. Happy to report no water in the floor despite the Pineapple Express!!

Thank you all for your help, maybe this will pay-it-forward and help someone else

Attach bathroom seal to back of intake plenum (unobtainable!)
