I'm going to go WAY out on a limb here and say it's got to be the battery. /end sarcasm

12.2 seems low. I'll trickle charge overnight. If that doesn't do it I'll replace. Going to clean up the terminals. Hopefully my radio code is written down somewhere or maybe it doesn't apply to me.

Charged up the battery. 12.6 volts. No start. Put the booster cables with another truck on it for a bit and still no start.

The starter is making a loud single click noise when I turn the key. I've tried banging it. No luck.

Flat deck is coming today to take it into the shop.

I'm thinking that it is just frozen. I was pushing a lot of snow the day before this happened. Temps around -20 Celcius.

I pulled and cleaned all the wires at the same time as I replaced the battery.
Fixed the problem. It was a weak battery. Gunky cable to the starter.

On my time off over xmas, I had her in the shop.

New windshield. Old one was cracked and pitted.

They replaced a couple of pullies and put in a new belt. The next morning the squeal was still there. I was right back to work after that so no chance to take it back. Will try the stick thing when I get a chance.

As a reply to my weird noise issue,

My excellent mechanic at TRS automotive put on the stethoscope and figures it's the water pump. But that weird noise is a small, insignificant thing. The water pump could last a long time. Or it could fail tomorrow.

Good times.

After being stranded by a bad idler, I'm a firm believer in preventative maintenance of the cheaper belt driven accessories. So while the compressor or power steering pump might have to wait, I'd swap a water pump without waiting. Hell, I've been thinking about swapping mine just because.
