Default weather change means problems starting...

I have a 95 Disco and every year when the weather gets cooler I have a problem starting it. I have been told that the gas gets rich when the weather gets cooler and that I need to keep the gas floored when turning ignition to start. I did that the other day and it eventually started and it burns out of the exhaust and then it runs fine. Today no luck with that suggestion. Why does this always happen? Today it is not working and I would like some feedback. Thanks.

NEVER, with any fuel injected engine touch the gas pedal to start, you are just screwing up your ECU.
What gas are you running, when was it last tuned including wire, and a factory cap and rotor, do you have any fault codes, if so, what are they??????????????
Answer everything!!

Disco Mike, just to give you some history....this past month replaced the cats, exhaust from muffler back, alternator rebuilt, plugs, cap and wires and rotor. Cat was crushed inside...replaced that. Fixed an exhaust leak and the car ran great last few weeks. Now the weather here in upstate NY is changing and got cooler. Now it is having trouble starting. Yesterday I got it started and it ran fine. Today, can not get it started. Cleaned stepper motor with carb cleaner. Stuck on what to do next. Thanks.

Clean your throttle body, run a couple cans of Seafoam thru the gas tank, quit using cheap gas, go to suporeme, you will get more power and 1 tp 2 more MPG. Have some one look under the passenger seat for the read LED and see if you have any faults, if you don't know how, have a mechanic do it cause what you are describing is not normal.

It is because of the gas you are using.
Land Rover REQUIRE premium gas, if you dont use it you are asking for BIG trouble, not only from hard starting but engine sludge as well.
I am betting that one you switch over to the proper grade of gas your hard starting problem when cold will go away.
And remember, it costs no more than a extra $5 to fill up from empty with premium over regular.
If regular is $2.50 and you buy 20 gal's thats $50.
If premium is $2.70 and you buy 20 gal's thats $54.
You will get that money back in a MPG increase.
