Default Weird Engine Noise

Hey guys,

Had this noise show up today, I put a screw driver on the pulleys and couldn't locate it anywhere. Closest point I could hear it was around the AC unit. let me know what you guys think...and hopefully this movie uploaded correctly and its not something from my 80's **** collection...

Thanks

When you remove the belt and run it does the noise go away?

As Wilson7287 has suggested I was going to say try running it with the auxiliary drive belt removed and see if is still there then. At least that would either rule out any of the idler pulleys, etc or point to one of them being at fault.

You can safely run the engine without the belt for a few moments, just remember you will have no cooling as the fan will be disconnected and the alternator will not be charging. But a couple of minute should be enough to confirm if the noise is/was from any auxiliary components

That sounds like a bearing going bad in the video. You can remove the belt and spin the pulleys by hand and see if you can feel and 'grit' in any of them. Also, I have seen A/C clutches drag a little with the belt on. You could try turning the A/C on and see if it goes away, gets worse, etc. That is almost exactly the noise my tensioner pulley made when the bearing went bad in it. Hopefully that's all it is.
Good luck.
