Love the exterior color. How many miles? What did you pay?

Some things can be prevented, some things cannot.

Preventable:

1. Overheating - replace all cooling system components not recently replaced. They all fail at your age/mileage level. Bypass thermostat is more reliable than the best LR designed stat.
2. Oil leaks - PCV mod
3. Headliner damage - pull it out now and start working on sealing the sunroofs. I can walk you through it.
4. Cowl breakage - due to UV exposure - remove and coat/paint.
5. Hood/Roof fading - park inside, UV coatings, wax frequently, etc.
6. Wiring issues - replace the old broken/cracked wire looms - they protect the wires from UV and heat exposure.
7. Sunroof motor failure - see #2.
8. Window regulator failures - pull the doors and grease the tracks
9. Popping door strap - liberal lube

Sounds good. The roof rack is worth a thousand already.

My most rewarding upgrade was adding an oil cooler (factory from '02 with thermostat adapter [factory ports do not work]). It brings down the max oil temps by 20 deg F and extends engine life.

Extinct with excellent advice.

I would add use genuine hoses.

@Extinct - I have the popping door strap issue. Drives me nuts. I have liberally coated it with wd-40 and then white lithium grease. What do you recommend?

@cvhyatt Take a look at the strap, mine has ovaled drive shaft grease helps a bit, nothing else does. It really needs to be replaced but that is a ton of work on these

Yeah, once they are popping you really just need to replace it. Junkyard or one of the forum breakers. Good excuse to lube the window tracks.
