Well I did it... bike rack and low clearance bridge
Yep that’s me. The guy who forgot the new roof mounted bike rack and his sons’ bicycles. Well it’s not looking great. Can these roofs be straightened up? I’ll definitely need a new rear sunroof and seals for the roof bars... what an idiot! The transversal bar is a wreck! The bars shifted slightly and the seal got mangled by the transversal bar. Sunroof broke in You can see thenwrinkles in the roof
Been there... twice!!! Fortunately the bike rack twisted up like a shoelace and took the full brunt of the damage. Sorry you twisted your rack, probably be easier and less frustrating to pick up some rails from a junkyard. As for the sunroof I’d seek out a pro if I didn’t have the willingness to tackle it.
Your first priority is the sunroof. You DO NOT want water to come in and ruin EVERYTHING. I don't have an answer for you but if this is your daily driver (and it will rain) figure out how you want to seal, repair, patch the sunroof. Buy some Flex Seal tape and slap it on the corner there. It will keep out a hurricane but it will also bond very well to the paint (disclaimer). I wouldn't attempt to open that sunroof anymore
Yes we will be sealing all around there today. I can source a sunroof assembly from the scrapyard I think but I haven’t been able to find a part number dor the 2004 specific big roof bars. The round bars look fine but they have shifted slightly towards the center when pulled by the cross bar that was bolted to it but the seals got damaged.
As the title says I’m looking for a good rear sunroof, a set of tubular roof bars with good seals and hardware and a good set of cross bars.
Anyone has them?
thanks!
I’ll start the work in a couple weeks

the rack bars (tubular for 2004 or the slimmer ones earlier) come off with two bolts from the underside so you need to pull the headliner first then it's right there.
The cross bars are held differently:
-front cross bar is a clamp hold, released by removing the small cover on top with a safety torx screw and then a regular torx underneath to release the clamp (tends to be stuck if they have been on for years)
-rear cross bar is bolted to the tubular roof bars with two torx assembly screws
