Default Westward Ho bosshogt moves to Denver from Indy

Well finally the time has come. I've moved to Denver. I pulled this sweet trailer from Indy to Denver on Thursday last week. I got a solid 7.5 MPG. Only about $579 in Shell V-Power. Now I'm excited to meet the legend Disco Mike. Maybe these Colorado folks can teach me how to really wheel.
My custom bumper held up well. Used a 10" drop hitch. I bet that trailer was a full 5000lbs. The rear SLS air suspension was nice as it leveled out the trailer, much more than pictured once rolling.

your a Brave man in my books for hauling a trailer such as that as far as you did... 7.5 eh.. whew.... my folks GMC 3500 extended cab 4X4 dual rear wheels while pulling a 35 ft 5th wheel camper gets better than that. Glad you made it tell mike I said hello enjoy the mountains.

Yeah, I learned quickly that 40psi was best for the rear tires. Otherwise it felt like I was slightly fish tailing. Although once at up to 65mph it was a smooth ride. The electronic trailer brake controller was a must for that heavy of a trailer. It was rought climbing hills with the beast. 2 weeks before this journey I did the oil pump gear/ front cover gasket/ new Airtex water Pump, new Bosch Plat +4's, also switched to Peak Global Lifetime. No leaks and all is running smooth
I could have used some 4.11 gears to get my rpms back in the range with the big 265/75/16 tires. I'll have to save my pennies.

With your tires, you should always run 40 pounds all the way around except when towing then look towards 50 pounds

I would now change the transmission fluid and get it flushed. I am betting all that towing burned the fluid. I got 17.4 MPG with no towing from Denver to Seattle. So, you are pulling that trailer. There is wind resistance. If the torque converter did not lock, then a lot of that MPG loss would be in the form of heat - maybe in the torque convertor. But, you never reported a transmission temp. light - so maybe you got away with it. Brave man. There is an Indy shop in Boulder CO on Arapahoe. Called Arapahoe Imports. There are always lots of Rovers outside. Met the owner. Nice. Everything in Boulder is nice.. As you will find out.

Oh boy, can we! Get ready to spend more time on 3 wheels than 4 and are some Colorado pin stripping... if you don't know about that you will soon!

Awesome looking rig...and the rear bumper is to die for... love the blinkers and side steps.
