Default What’s that thingy?

Hi there,
New member here and willing to learn. Just got a 2003 Discovery 2 SE7. It’s a great little tank runs awesome and has had a lengthy history of work already done to it by a caring former owner. Formalities aside, what’s this box Velcroed under this panel? There’s also a toggle switch which I’m not sure what it does. Neither of these things seem to do anything but if possible I’d like to get this beast back to tip top shape. Is it possibly a transmitter for the DVD player audio?
Thanks
Eric

Small toggle switch under steering wheel.

Some little radio receiver thing? Looks like radio signal numbers under the green lights.

Context of location of switch

Neither appear to be factory. Maybe left overs from a ham radio install

Looks like whatever audio source that you plug into that box (dvd player, ham radio, etc) will be modulated to whatever frequency on your FM radio that you choose... so you can listen through your radio without being hardwired to your in dash radio... fancy FM modulator... at least I think it is.

Good ideas thanks. Given that is has the DVD player it could have been an alternative to headphones who knows how long ago.

Mine had a DVD player and doesn’t have any of that. I second the FM transmitter theory.

Pics are kinda low res, but looks like it could be trailer brakes?

I second the brake controller. I had to install one when pulling a 16ft trailer from Indy to Denver. That indicator is usually mounted further up so you can see the indicator lights.

Interesting. That wasn’t on my radar for what I was thinking but it does have a trailer hitch.

Zoom in on the pic... i thought trailer brake controller until i did that... there are fm frequencies across the front consistent with fm modulators.

Here’s a better one. I mentioned in the original post there looked like radio frequencies under the lights.
