What is this???
Alright guys, I checked out everything I was suggested and was looking under the hood on the passenger side and found this burnt thing with a wire haarnest and vacum line. I think this is why I cant shift out of park, I hope anyways. Does anyone know what this is, so I can order one. Ok how do I put pics on here?
the reason you can't shift out of park is that the silnoid that stops you from shifting unless you have the brake pressed is not working. either it is bad or something that sends it a signal is bad. It is located inside the shifter mechanism. check All, I repeat all, your fuses first, then check to see if your brake lights are working. if these things don't fix the problem you can remove the silnoid, the only deal with that is that your truck can be shifted anytime even without the key.
If so does anyone have one for sell. I'll take a used one or anything else you got. I have checked all fuses under dash and under hood. All fuses are good. I found the melted cruise control pump while I was looking for bad fuses. I think it maybe th e prob. But I will wait and see what all y'all think
Check your brake light switch, I just had mine go out in the 7-11 parking lot. It was also stuck in park. I was able to jump the solinoid from the fuse box. I bought a new switch from Napa for $35, the dealer in wanted $90!. The switch from Napa came in a Land Rover bag. I also bought another new switch off ebay for $13 from the UK for a spare.

Was it mounted in the front near the left headlight? I was wondering what that was. It is hard to believe that it could melt that badly and not blow a fuse! To draw enough current to do that much damage and not blow a fuse would indicate that it is on an unfused circuit. And I really doubt that is he case. Check out the electrical section in the RAVE download and I think you will find the entire circuit detailed there identifying the fuse rating and location. There is also a section for component locations. Get used to looking at it if you plan on having your Disco long.
Thanks man, but I have already gotten a new switch actually 2 of them and that has not fixed the problem. Now when I step on the brake the differential lock warning light comes on and a chime sound 3 times in a row. Also the green S and the green M are both flashing on the bottom of the panel. And still no click in the gear shift when I step on the brake and also no brake lights. And I have checked the fuses over and over just in case. And still no luck.
