What accepts the signal from my key fob on my 2000 disco 2?

And that signal from the RF receiver is passed to the BCU, which controls central looking via the IDM module on back of fuse panel. Of course the BCU uses that signal for other functions, like alarm and immobilzation.
It is a very good idea to have a working key fob. On later models, like the LR3, these are quite pricey.
I have long suspected that Rover uses this capacity as a method for the stealership to put new check engine codes in the system when you drive within wifi range. I have no proof to support this, but....

Thanks for the info...I only have 1 key for the ignition and driver door. recently the lock on the driver side door just turns and does not do anything. I found someone parting out a disco 2 and has the key fobs, door handle with lock and ignition. Was wondering if I could just buy all the above plus the ecu or bcu and not have to reprogram the fobs at the stealership?

Bennyb43, check out this thread I started a few years ago when my door lock quit working.

Sounds like you may have the same problem. This doesn't answer your questions about the keyless entry system but it may help you get your keyed lock working.
