Default What is the best combination for suspension lift?

I have an 04 Discovery that I am looking to beef up a bit and put a suspension or spacer lift and some new tires on to help my off road performance. What do you think is the best route to accomplishing this?

Never use spacers with out first installing a new lift, the old suspension can not handle the higher center of gravity.
So what are you wanting to do with your truck, how much lift are you thinking about and will you be adding a bumper and or winch at some time?

For everything from light off roading to moderately heavy trails an OME or Rovertym 2" lift and new tires between 30-32 inches is perfect.

I would like to do some light off roading but not be limited to that since my wife's family is from Grand Junction, CO and I would like to go down to Moab, UT and do some offroading there. My wife will be driving this car most of the time so I want it to handle good on the road as well as off road. I will in time put some bumpers, snorkle, and roof rack on when I see it fit financially. What do you think?

Old Man Emu 2" lift (springs and shocks)

Medium if you don't plan to install bumpers, etc.

HD if you do

How long have you had it? How much off-roading have you done with it? You'll be better served by driving it as is for 6 months to a year and off-road as much as you can, to find where you really need improvements to suit what you want to do.

Have you actually had the truck off road yet to find out how it handles the kind of off roading you plan to do? That is the first step in finding a suspension for the truck. Those trucks are incredibly capable stock.

Definitely take it off road stock, no question there. Taking it out stock will teach you how to really drive and make those various upgrades all the more worth while when you do get them. As for you when you do get a lift, for your purposes I'd definitely say OME 2" lift, get the steering stabilizer as well.

I have owned a 2000 for six years now and done some off roading so I know its limitations and I know how to drive it, I just got a 2004 that I want to make my off roading vehical even though I have my 2000 that I drive everyday. I would just like to know what your suggestions are for suspension and tire sizes so I do not have to do trial and error with thousands of dollars of suspension and tire combinations.

OME shocks and springs are great if you want to stick with the stock suspension setup. They have a 2" and 3" lift kits available. Check out lucky 8. There have been tons of tire threads in the past few weeks with good suggestions. You have 16" or 18" wheels?
