Default What brand of brake rotors and pads are recommended?

What brand of brake rotors and pads are recommended/worth using? Ones to stay away from (meaning possibly causing 3 amigos)...

I see rotor brands are:
DBA
EBC
ATE
others?

& brake pads
Abekeno
EBC

Just wondering as I am getting close to replacing mine. Just wondering if local parts store brands work okay with my 2000 D2.

Depends on how good a rotor you want. I have a set of 103,000 DBA rotors that are still great that will out stop all other Rotors. As for pads, Akebono EUR 676 for the fronts and EUR 493 for the rears.

Hey Mike,

Do you clean those things? My rotors, which I've changed only a few weeks ago, already seem to have some oxidation forming. Especially the front in that space between the two "layers," if you will.

I have only cleaned them with brake cleaner once, when I installed some new pads. I do power wash them if I get in some mud, thats all. Can you send a picture so I can see what you are referring to?

Yes, that's a good question. I don't know if I am ready to spend $100/rotor on dba's, however 100,000 miles on rotors for this vehicle seems impressive. How long are others getting on other brands of rotors: factory, autopart stores, ebc, ate, etc.....

30,000 to 50,000 and they don't stop quite as well.
By the way, how do you know you need rotors?

This is what they looked liked when first installed (August 30th):

This is what they look like today (27 days later - no off-roading):

Normal for these generics/standard rotors? I used this rebuild kit from AB:

That is rust, does the truck for days, if so that is why they are rusting.
