Did you replace the oil pump yourself ? I would assume if you did you have the ability to check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge - if a shop did it then return to the shop and let them know your light is remaining on and have them diagnose

 

If it stays on constantly and runs OK I would be inclined to think it is a sensor vs actual low oil pressure. The oil pressure varies widely depending on RPM's which usually means the light flickers at hot idle and goes off when revved. A constant oil light due to low pressure on a running engine I think would have other symptoms like knocking, etc. Or would soon. BUT, if you are considering junking it, throw it on facebook marketplace first. I bet you find a buyer.

Quick add- If you do decide to scrap it, what color is the interior? I need some Tundra parts.

sorry I left the forum I was wiping the tears away. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement to fix my beloved D2. Thanks for all the good advice, need to think about it.

 

A constant oil light will turn into awful engine noise in a day or two, at most. Probably on the ride to the shop to have the pressure tested. If you've not had any audible clues that something is really wrong in there then I'd say you're probably suffering from a failed pressure switch. When these fail there's usually evidence of oil leaking from them but unfortunately with these engines that may not be much different than it usually looks. Don't give up hope. Changing the switch is a little challenging because access is limited but if you can turn a bolt with a wrench or socket, you can change the sensor yourself. Best to have the actual pressure tested but throwing a switch at it is a cheap troubleshooting approach.

 

It could just be a simple problem as an faulty oil sensor switch.

I once had an oil light come one right after I crossed a pond up with water up to the front grill. I stopped to check my oil level and the engine was running fine. I had to continue on as we were offroading and a few days drive from civilization. The oil light went away at the end of the day. Some moisture must have gotten to the sensor and dried out later. I am still running on the same oil sensor a few years later.
