What to do? REPAIR GONE WAY BAD
I'll try to make this brief, but I could seriously use some opinions on this one. AND NO....YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS MESS!
July 21: My Three Amigos come on. I take it to the local Indy Land Rover guy. He does the cursury check, orders the little shuttle valve kit and eventually decides it's my ABS Modulator that took a dump. He told me he can get it rebuilt for $500. Total bill $800. Since I was trying to get to the Landy Rally I was in a hurry. He agrees to send the unit Next Day Air.
July 27: I find out the unit went GROUND. I also found out they rebuilt the pump, too. Add another $400. Bill up to $1500.
July 30: Oh crap!! They sent it back via GROUND! Vacation cancelled a third time.
*Due to this batch of mess ups my bill was reduced to $1100.
August 4th: They promise the repair will be done by 2pm so we can get off on our vacation. When they DID call it wasn't to tell me they crashed my car on the test drive through the garage door, hit another Rover and did $5000 damage to my Disco. The mechanic forgot he bled the lines, went to move the Rover to the other side of the shop to put it on the lift and crashed it pretty good. This with full ARB bumper! Vacation with the Rover cancelled completely.
September 4th: Nothing.
September 10th: Nothing.
September 15th: Nothing.
September 16th: I get a call to review the body work repairs. All looks fine. I expressed my extreme displeasure with this repair that has now reached 8 weeks. I cancelled my vacation (two of them) multiple times.
September 18th: I go to pick it up and meet up with that looming $1100 repair for the brakes.
QUESTION:
If you were in my shoes, how would you feel about paying that $1100?? It has been 8 weeks. Half of the summer gone. Vacations ruined. My Rover now has been officially "in an accident" should anyone CarFax it.
I'm pissed. I like this guy, but I can't believe he'd charge me a penny.

He should not have charged you a thing, their shop insurance paid for the body damage, they should cover the repairs for the loss of your truck for the summer and "damaging" the title.
Talk to him about it nicely, if he wont work with you then pay the bill and note on the work order and receipt "with dispute" and then you can talk to a attorney as see what your options are.
You want your truck back, it's not his fault they sent the wrong part or sent it ground instead of air.
But if you paid for air and it came ground...he promised 1 wk and 8 wks later...plus he smashed your truck.
I think you could get your money back in small claims court.
