It's just the set they sell on Atlantic British. I kind of hate their website because none of the parts have any pertinent details on them (who is the manufacturer, specs, etc). So it's just the "Head Bolt Kit" as far as I know.

Yeah, I'm thinking I will do that as well.

I actually just got off the phone with O'Brien's and was talking to him about what I was planning on doing, and he said that to even mess with the oil pump, I would have to take off the front cover and the oil pan and that would make the job quite a bit more extensive than a weekend job.

Anybody else have any thoughts on that? I am definitely leaking there.. But I don't have unlimited time to do this. Also my cross seals are leaking as well.

EDIT: And he told me that I should get "the Mercedes coolant" because it's far and away better. This is the first I've heard of it.

HQ repair may help you recoup more money on selling it immediately. I am not sure that it will help much but that is your decision.I hope you are planning on at the least Decking the cylinder head by a machine shop and ARP Studs .. and the better gasket not OEM. Good luck with the repair

yes, you have to drop the oil pan and remove the front cover, pretty straight forward and another 2 dozen bolts is all.
But what is your ultimate goal? do you plan on keeping this long term do the oil pump and timing chain, if not do gaskets plugs and wires.

Well, my long term goal is to keep her running well over the next year and a half and leave her better than I found her. And who knows--if I get a sweet enough job offer in the UAE I may very well take her with me. But that's a big if!

Do you have a time estimate on how much more work that would take? **EDIT:Answered my own question, sorry**

So the oil pump... is that just a rebuild job or do I need to buy a new one?

then i would do the pump and chain. The book calls for something like 8 hrs to replace the timing chain cover gasket.
you need to check but the timing chain kit should come with a new timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket & front crank seal. if not you will need them.
also 8 hrs is stealership hours so you can divide by 60%.

one of you can start at the top and the other the bottom and you can meet around the water pump.

Ps new t-stat while your there.
