Default What is the failure mode on the shuttle valve?

So I got the 3 Amigos plus "BRAKE" light after a long hard offroad run, lots of potholes and washboard on a FS main road followed by a 4 out of 5 trail, the Amigos came on during the washboard/pothole part.

I have a Foxwell NT510, I show shuttle valve failure (along with signal loss/intermittent signal from the RR speed sensor).

Do the shuttle valves have a fragile "circuit board" or some such apparatus subject to vibration? Obviously the ABS module is vibration isolated to some degree, does the shuttle valve fail due to physical force?

I plan on the "Plan B" jump out of the shuttle valve to resolve this unless I hear a compelling argument against, because I do intend to continually punish the truck off road and subject it to the vibrations I assume led to the failure..

Hi Jeff. First, it's not the shuttle valves that typically fail, it's the shuttle valve switch circuit.

And yes, the failure is due to a weak solder joint connecting a connector pin to a small printed circuit board in the modulator, and rough off-roading could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Option B bypasses the failed solder joint and PC board to restore full ABS, TC and HDC function. It does not bypass the ABS system as the description could imply to someone uninformed.

Yeah, it was a real tooth rattling drive.

Then that's how I will address it, option B.

Thanks very much!

Hmmm. I cleared the codes for the ABS, the hill descent immediately cleared, but TC and ABS remained lit. I shut it off, restarted it awhile later, and the TC was gone and after a few seconds the ABS light went off.

Maybe I just jarred something and it is not a total failure yet...I will go test if the ABS and TC/Hill descent are actually working again.

Weird.

That's really not that surprising. It's certainly possible that the rough trail you were on shook the connection loose but it then reconnected. Option B is always a good, inexpensive, not too difficult preventive measure. Especially if you expect to be on trails like that again, as you said.

Just tested it out, all systems functioning as they are supposed to. I have acreage with some obstacles so I get to "test" the trucks whenever I want.

Option B as a preventative measure, then.

Thanks again min01!
