I have a Innova 3100 code reader and have never had a problem with it. I think it was under $100 at Checker

I got mine at advance, i think its an actron. ive had good luck with it. gives the code and description so you dont have to do a search. saves a little time. i think it was like 130 dollars but i got it for under 100 cause it was the store model they had to use once. dont know if you would have the same luck but it might be worth asking. i wanna say they were out of them and had to sell me the store's one or something, not sure it was a while back.

Consider going to Atlantic British, they offer 3 price levels of scanners, each, quite a bit more of an up-grade then the other.
What ever you buy, make sure it will clear engine codes, realize it won't read/clear ABS, SLS and SRS codes.
Also don't buy more of a scanner then you can technically handle.

I have the Actron CP9180 and have been very pleased with it - it will do a lot of the advanced functions and has most of the definitions internal in addition to USB interface with your PC to print or flash update the scanner with updates from Actron. $140ish on from actually Amazon (not a different seller). Whichever one you get, check Amazon because they are fairly aggressively priced....
