Default What if I remove my resonator?

I installed the High Country rear bumper and they suggest cutting off the exhaust pipe before the resonator and putting a right angle bend on to bring the exhaust out from under the bumper behind the rear wheel. Also, one of the bumper support brackets needs the resonator removed to attach properly. What will this do? Is there any other option like getting a smaller resonator or putting it farther back under the chasis towards the muffler?

It won't hurt anything to remove the resonator. I'm told, however, that the setup you are looking at has it's own set of problems - mainly that the exhaust will knock against the side opening and rattle. Whatever you do, make sure there is a suitable "plumber's loop" left to prevent water from backing into the system.

Removing the resonator will not cause any problems, actually make it sound just a little better.

I simply sawed mine off and added a generic tip to bring the exhaust out from under the truck. It sounds great and there is no negative effect. The sounds is great so I dont think there is any need to add a smaller resonator, but thats really up to you.

Here's how mine sounds.

Alright guys,

I'm not mechanic, I'm just in love with Land Rovers, I was wondering if anyone of you could tell me whereabouts I have to cut to remove the resonator? I know this is an old post but some of you may still check it

Just cut directly behind the resonator. I left like 2 inches for ease of cutting, and just in case I ever want to put it back on... which i doubt will ever happen.

Get under the truck, look, and you'll see where to cut it off, there really isnt an exact science.

Be careful not to let it fall on you as you cut through it!

My resonator is removed after installing my magnaflow muffler. It sounds good. Now I am about to install my new Bortoff rear bumper and just shorten it and put a downward tip on it. Here is video from last winter.
